Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has landed in China for a three-day official visit.

Mudavadi, who also serves as the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, is expected to follow up on discussions and agreements established between Kenya and China during the recent state visit by President William Ruto.

"I have safely arrived in China for a 3-day official visit. This visit, extended at the invitation of Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, provides a valuable opportunity to follow up on discussions and agreements established between Kenya and China during the recent state visit led by H.E. President William Ruto," Mudavadi stated.

He is also expected to engage with senior government representatives of China, with a focus on strengthening collaboration in trade, investment, and security.

"Throughout this visit, I will actively engage with senior government representatives of the People’s Republic of China, with a focus on strengthening collaboration in trade, investment, and security. China, a crucial partner for Kenya, continues to lead impactful infrastructural projects, significantly enhancing the lives of many," he added.

Mudavadi's foreign engagements

The trip to China comes days after Mudavadi attended the 19th Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Uganda, representing the government.

In Uganda, he held talks with Algerian delegation headed by the Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmed Attaf.

Since taking over the Foreign Affairs docket from Alfred Mutua last year, Mudavadi has been involved in several official visits outside the country to represent the President.

On January 19, 2024, Mudavadi announced the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kenya and the Bahamas.

Mudavadi announced the new ties after meeting Alfred Sears, Minister of Immigration and National Insurance of the Bahamas.

"We have initiated the process of establishing embassies in both our capitals at the ambassadorial level. Today's milestone agreement reflects a robust commitment to future cooperation and fostering friendship between our nations. We look forward to fruitful collaborations across diverse areas for mutual benefit," the Prime CS stated.
