Nairobi politician Ibrahim Ahmed alias Johny died on Friday morning, April 9, after a short illness. Ahmed vied for the Kamukunji parliamentary seat in 2017 on a Wiper party ticket.

A former ODM point man in Eastleigh between 2007-2008, Ahmed also served as the deputy secretary-general of the Jamia Mosque.

Confirming the death of the politician, ODM in its statement revealed that Ahmed had been battling kidney complications over the years.

He will be buried today at the Lang’ata Muslim cemetery in compliance with Islamic funeral rites.

Kenyans took to social media to mourn his death, eulogizing him as an honest man.

Here are some of the condolence messages:

“It is a sad day in Nairobi kwaheri, Hon Ibrahim Ahmed he was honest and I cannot believe that he is no more,” said Hon Samwel Mundia.

ODM Director of youth Affairs Benson Musungu said: “Rest in peace brother. We will really miss you. You never missed shouting out someone’s name when you meet them in the city. RIP Kiongozi.”

“The passing of businessman and leader Ibrahim Ahmed Johny this morning has come as a great shock to me and many Kenyans. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who loved people,” Abdirahman Mohamed said.
