Azimio-One Kenya presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has lashed out at Deputy President William Ruto over his criticism of the relocation of port functions from the Port of Mombasa.

Raila said the Deputy President was responsible for the establishment of the Naivasha dry port which he has been criticizing over claims that it had led to the transfer of jobs from the coast to the mainland.

Speaking at stopovers in Kengeleni, Saba Saba and a rally in Bangladesh slum in Mombasa, Raila said Ruto had conveniently forgotten about his role in the implementation of the Naivasha dry port plans.

Raila also said Ruto's allies in Parliament were behind the passing of laws that made it mandatory for cargo from Port of Mombasa destined for Nairobi and beyond, evacuated via the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).

“When he comes back here and talks about the port, ask him who launched the Naivasha dry port. Records are there and you can even watch videos of how he spoke during the launch,” Raila said.
