Nakuru born fast rising keeper Godson Chagema has been invited to England for a four-months trial with English Premier Club side Manchester United FC as a goalie.

The promising keeper developed interest in matters football while at St. Teresa’s Primary school in Kivumbini that saw his talent recognized while in Secondary where he was included in the first squad as goalkeeper.

Chagema's dream to nurture his talent further made him apply online for the Manchester United trials after his teammate hinted to him about the same.

“I decided to give the application a shot after my friend enlightened me about the same, i applied giving a description about myself and after 5 days I was given a response congratulating me,” Chagema said.

The youthful goalkeeper from Kivumbini Ward in Nakuru Town East sub-County is set to depart today to England for a four-months trial with the EPL giants as a goalkeeper.

Chagema's journey was rocked with financial constraints to travel to Manchester to attend the trials, but luckily the County Government of Nakuru, through Governor Lee Kinyanjui, came to the aid of the Kenyan teenager.

The Nakuru Administration has since paid his air ticket, accommodation and taken care of any other expenses throughout the trials period.

“Chegema's success is a clear testament that there is untapped talent among the youth in our country and an indication that sports is a key tool that can be used to keep the youth from crime and drug abuse,” Kinyanjui said.

The Manchester United bound youth was presented with the package by Nakuru County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Sports, Sylvia Onyango, who emphasized on the need to nurture sports among the youth.

The trials will be held in Manchester, where scouts from major international clubs will avail themselves to select their preferred player.
