Three people injured in Thika Road crash

Three people were critically injured when a bus belonging to Kenya Mpya company collided head-on with a lorry on Thika Road on January 22.

Some 18 other people sustained minor injuries.

The accident happened at Kareme gas station at Juja as a lorry loaded with construction stones hit the oncoming bus at a service lane of the ever-busy Thika Road.

Juja Police Commander Dorothy Migarusha confirmed the accident adding that the injured people were taken to various hospitals along Thika Road.

From videos and photos circulating on Twitter Wednesday afternoon and verified to be from the accident scene, the collision impact also caused great damage to the two vehicles.

A big portion of the lorry's body was ripped off after the collision.

Split into three brands namely; Lothian, Neo Kenya, and Kenya Mpya, the owning company operates over 50 vehicles that ply Kenol-Thika-Nairobi routes.
