Why NMS is set to lose Sh8.9 billion

Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) is set to face a major loss if the county assembly will approve the proposed Annual Development Plan 2021-22 where the entity will lose Sh8.9 billion.

The Fiscal Strategy Paper 2021 indicates that the Nairobi county government has projected a Sh37.3 billion budget for the next financial year 2021-22.

In the amount, NMS has been allocated Sh18.38 billion with Sh11.75 billion being allocated for recurrent expenditure and Sh6.6 billion for development to cater for the four transferred functions.

The county government will be left with Sh11.9 billion. This means there will be a drop of Sh8.9 billion below the current fiscal year.

NMS has been allocated Sh27.1 billion - Sh18 billion for recurrent expenditure and Sh9.1 billion for development.
