The National Land Commission has commenced investigations into a land feud pitting the county government of Uasin Gishu and The University of Eldoret main campus.

NLC commissioners led by Hon. Esther Murugi and commissioner James Tuitoek have confirmed the feud between the two public institutions that have continued to hamper service delivery to the people.

Murugi assured an out-of-court agreement is in the offing.

“The University of Eldoret has complained against the county government of Uasin Gishu for taking over a section of the school land where they have claimed to be a part of the county government assets, however as a commission, we have engaged both parties and we are sure to resolve the matter as soon as possible,” said Murugi.

NLC has also hinted of similar investigations against the county government of Nandi and has urged public institutions to desist from land squabbles amongst themselves.

Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago and the deputy Daniel Chemno who attended the Nlc meeting did not comment on the matter assuring that an amicable solution will be arrived at.
