Police arrest revellers in bar, youth at Kilimani nude part

Police arrested 18 youths while partying naked at an apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani estate on Sunday evening.
Kilimani officers were alerted and raided Hurlequin Courts in Jamhuri where the 18 were found all naked and with cameras.
Among those arrested are five women and 13 men ranging in age between 14 and 30 years. Kilimani OCPD Lucas Ogara said the suspects were placed in custody over the illegal gathering.
Some of the underage children were yesterday being grilled by the detectives from the Child Protection Unit (CPU) at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.
“We have also engaged an expert to analyse the camera to establish the contents. Once we establish the sections of the laws breached, we may ask the court to sit and the suspects be charged,” Ogara said.
Last month, the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said they will only prosecute serious cases of murder, robbery with violence, terrorism and trafficking.
Noordin Haji said the prosecution of other cases remained suspended and his staff will only focus on the serious cases.
The OCPD added that they were also involving the parents of the children in the investigations.
“We also want to know why the youth were left to behave the way they did. And we will also talk to their parents,” he said.
The government has banned all social gathering to ensure social distancing as a key strategy in fighting the spread of the coronavirus.
Last week, the government extended the dawn to dusk curfew to contain the spread of virus.
As a result gathering have been banned including churches, rallies and funerals to be attended by not more than 15 people.
Since the curfew orders came into place last month, several people including security officers have been arrested for defying the orders.
The Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi last week said those found breaching curfew rules would be taken for mandatory quarantine, at their own costs.
A bar owner in Murang’a and his five clients have been put under forced quarantine after they were found locked up in a club to take liquor.
The bar owner who operates within Murang’a town has been accused of notoriety in operating his club despite government’s guidelines banning operations of bars and clubs in effort to combat spread of Covid 19.
The revelers who were nabbed while taking liquor in the club were taken for quarantine at Murang’a Teachers College for 14 days for going against Ministry of health directive to lock down bars this time the country is faced by threat of coronavirus.
