Records database to tackle fake certificates menace
The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) is ready to roll out the Kenya National Learners Records Database (KNLRD).
The database will facilitate easy verification of qualifications and help fight the menace of fake certificates.
Qualifications Awarding Institutions (QAIs) will be required to register their qualifications and the graduates as set out in the Kenya National Qualifications Framework Act of 2014.
“KNLRD is a comprehensive relational database that acts as a central repository for registered QAI’s, qualifications and learners records,” KNQA said in a statement yesterday.
The qualifications body stated that KNLRD is meant to make qualifications management seamless.
“This will allow the qualifications awarding institution to enter, edit, update, append and list all the academic details of all the learners with respect to referential integrity.
It will also enhance effective and efficient management of leaners information,” the Authority added.
Once completed, the process will enable the country to have a one-stop repository of all qualifications.
Vocation and Technical Training Principal Secretary Margaret Mwakima is expected to preside over a virtual training of qualifications awarding institutions on KNLRD to be held tomorrow.
