Roots Party has taken away deputy party leader Justina Wamae’s powers in its affairs.

The move follows the appointment of Yagnik Vinod Ramji as the party’s deputy in acting capacity.

The decision was made through a resolution by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) in a meeting held at the party offices in Karen, Nairobi last week.

Others appointed to take up senior positions are Naran Velji Arjan, the new chief executive officer and Janet Odhiambo, who will now be the Deputy National chairperson.

“Following a resolution by the Roots Party NEC in a meeting held at the head office, we confirm the appointment of new party officials among them Yagnik Vinod Ramji as the deputy party leader,” party said in a gazette notice.

Contacted yesterday, Roots Party leader Prof George Wajackoya’s said Wamae (pictured) had only been his running mate and since the elections ended, she has no role to play in the party.

“She was just a running-mate, which ended with the presidential election on August 9,” Wajackoyah said.
