Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has urged the Nairobi County leadership to repair the now infamous and dilapidated Camp Toyoyo Stadium in Jericho Ward, Makadara Constituency, and the long-promised Dandora Stadium in Embakasi North Constituency.

Speaking in Nairobi on Monday, Sifuna minced no words when calling out Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, highlighting that the Senate has allocated an additional Sh 800 million to the city county. He expressed hope that the funds would benefit sportsmen and women within the estates.

“Sports fields in Nairobi are in a pathetic condition and this is affecting our young sports men and women, meaning that few of them will be selected to the national teams. The Gorvernor now has no excuse, but go back to Makadara and rehabilitate Camp Toyoyo because the residents there are suffering since the turf is now worn out,” said Sifuna. He emphasised that Dandora Stadium should now serve the local residents.

After a two-year stalemate, works at the 350 million Ksh Dandora Stadium finally commenced in February this year under Sakaja’s leadership, awarded to M/S Scanjet Construction Limited.
