VERDICT: 19-year-old man charged with defiling 16-year-old girl
A man was on Monday arraigned before a Kisumu court for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl.
Tyson Ongaki, 19, appeared before the Kisumu's chief magistrate court Peter Gesora and charged with the offence contrary to section 8(1) (4) of the sexual offences act No 3 of 2006.
The court heard that Ongaki intentionally defiled the girl on the diverse dates of between March 26, 2021 and May 14, 2021 at Karuma location within Bomet county.
"You are also charged with commiting an indicent act with a child contrary to section 11(1) of the sexual offences act No 3 of 2006," read part of the alternative charge in the charge sheet.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
Gesora questioned why the matter was brought before a court in Kisumu and on her side the State counsel who was handling the matter informed the court that the offence took place in Bomet but Ongaki was residing in Kisumu where he was also arrested by the police.
The accused was released on Ksh100,000 bond.
The matter will be mentioned on June 2 and heard on June 15, 2021.
