Vihiga Queens picked up maximum points against Kisumu All-Starlets in a thrilling 4-3 win in the FKF Women’s Premier League (FKF-WPL) round four fixture played on Saturday at the Mumias Sports Complex.

Lorna Nyabuto who was making her debut for the Legacy Makers was impressive as she scored a brace in the third and 60th minute to inspire Vihiga to a fourth straight victory in the league.

Livewire Terry Engesha (45’), and Jentrix Shikangwa (85’) were also on target for the hard-fought victory as second-half resurgence by All-Starlets almost caught the hosts napping with Winnie Adhiambo Okwach and Monica Paul Etot (brace) giving All-Starlets self-belief.

“We struggled in the second half of the match and Kisumu All-Starlets were the better side in the second half and had to make use of their chances unlike us.

We lost our open chances in the first half,” Vihiga Queens coach Boniface Nyamunyamu observed.

Kisumu All-Starlets manager Beryl Monique Oketch praised her team attitude.

“My girls have really improved and I thank them for showing the character of never giving up attitude and resilience. We now focus on our next match,” she said.

Elsewhere, defending champions Thika Queens laboured hard to dispatch hard-fighting Nakuru City Queens 2-0 with in form Wincate Kaari and her compatriot Juliet Andipo scoring a goal apiece in the 62nd and 65th minutes respectively to give coach Benta Achieng her third victory in four matches.

Meanwhile, newcomers Kangemi Starlets lost their fourth consecutive match of the season after going down 3-1 to visiting Kayole Starlets in a match played at Ligi Ndogo, Nairobi.

Ulinzi Starlets who had lost to Vihiga Queens in matchday two and drew 0-0 with Wadadia in their matchday three, bounced back strongly on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Ruaraka Ground, Nairobi, by hammering newcomers Bunyore Starlets 6-0.

Diana Shakava grabbed a brace in the match (75’ and 85’) with Jentrix Kuyudi (17’), Prudence Khasiala (30’) and Lanolin Aoko (33’).
