Woman Rep dares Kiraitu to sue her for defamation
Meru woman Rep Kawira Mwangaza has warned Governor Kiraitu Murungi to prepare for fierce court battle, accusing him of being a dictator and applying excessive force to oppress opponents.
She spoke after the county boss threatened to move to court next week to sue her for using Baite TV to abuse and maliciously damage his image by airing false and defamatory stories.
Speaking to People Daily Kawira yesterday accused Kiraitu of fighting leaders in the region instead of spearheading unity as a “ father figure” for the county.
“I don’t fear Kiraitu I am telling him that I am ready for the court battle even if they are a thousand of them.
I will win because it clear his intention to use all desperate means to block me from vying for the governor’s seat come 2022 which I am sure I will win,” said the furious Kawira.
The bad blood between the two which has been evidenced for the last three years escalated and took a new twist after Meru County law enforcers accompanied by police officers invaded the Kawira’s premises and demanded to see the license of Baite TV before the scene turned ugly forcing the officials to retreat.
Following the raid that was led by the Meru County Revenue Department boss John Ntoiti last Friday, Kawira and Kiraitu have come out in public to exchange bitter words which have elicited mixed reaction from the locals.
In what Kawira has termed to be the greatest insult against humanity, Meru county chief in his Monday speech referred to Kawira as a drama queen.
“What we are dealing with is not a case of oppression of a simple village woman of God and a bishop of the poor but a ruthless, cunning, political hypocrite and a drama queen and a master of deceit who is a media terrorist to paint me a bad person,” read part of the governor speech.
But in Kawira yesterday accused Kiraitu of being greedy for power and a master of divide and rule who uses excessive force to intimidate and silence competitors.
“Kiraitu will agree with me that I am not a simple village woman but an icon to Battle with come 2022.
I don’t fear him because I know right now the leadership of Meru is not going in the right direction since there is no tangible developments to be proud of as a county. All we can see is massive corruption,” said Kawira.
