Young entrepreneurs benefit from online course
Forty-one young entrepreneurs have graduated from an online course aimed at imparting profitable business skills to informal businesses.
The Covid-Born Free Mentorship Programme conducted on zoom entails 26 sessions aimed at aiding entrepreneurs on how to diversify and sustain informal businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Optiven Chief Executive Officer George Wachiuri, who sponsored the online mind transformation, the programme focused more on how to adjust the mode of doing business and common mistakes, entrepreneurs make in startup businesses as well as how to address them.
“We have about 5.6 million informal jobs in the country. This is a key sector which silently drives the economy of the country.
We must start by encouraging entrepreneurs on how to grow the businesses and the importance of formalising them.
Some entrepreneurs have very noble ideas which when facilitated with power of mind can turn out as lucrative ventures,” said Wachiuri.
He said Covid-19 is a big lesson on how technology can be utilised to make life easier and facilitate doing business online.
