2022/23 Kenya Cup kick-off dates announced
The 2022/23 Kenya Cup season will commence on 26 November 2022, Kenya Rugby Union has announced.
According to the Union, the league will once again adopt the one-off round-robin format which will run will run between 26 November to February 2022. The semis will be on 4 March and the final is scheduled for 11 March.
12 teams
The league will have 12 teams with Catholic Monks and Mean Machine who were promoted to the top tier replacing Nondies and Impala who have dropped to the second tier.
"This season’s league will again feature 12 teams, including promoted sides Catholic Monks and Mean Machine and will be played on a one-off, round-robin format with the top four sides at the close of the league phase qualifying for the semifinal playoffs set for Saturday 4 March 2023. This season's final will be played on Saturday 11 March 2023 at a yet-to-be-determined venue," KRU announced.

The Union has also revealed that the reserve league commonly known as Eric Shirley Shield will be back on the schedule for the first time since 2019/20.
"The Eric Shirley Shield, which, in recent seasons has served as the Kenya Cup reserve league, returns for the first time since COVID-19 disrupted the 2019/20 season," the union confirmed.
Kabras Rugby won the 2021/22 title after a second-half comeback. Fijian-born, Jone Kubu put up a man-of-the-match performance courtesy of 21 points to his name to also walk away with the top try scorer award after a 34-28 thriller win.
