Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Executive Committee (NEC) member Tom Alila has dismissed the 13-member committee appointed recently to take over from the Transition Committee when their term in office ends tomorrow.

Alila said some individuals were positioning themselves to take over the leadership through the backdoor in the pretext of the committee.

“This is not the time to think about posts but to seek ways to have Kenya re-admitted by the world governing body Fifa instead of pushing for selfish agenda meant to benefit individuals instead of Kenyan football,” he said.

He stated the priority should be given to the FKF secretariat to resume its duties of running the federation’s day-to-day operations and later oversee the filling of the vacuum that will be left by the FKF Transition Committee.

Alila, who once served as the FKF Nyanza NEC representative and Finance Committee chairman, urged the Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed to engage the world governing body to return football to normalcy and bar any individuals from trying to impose themselves in football management.

“CS Amina please talk to Fifa and find ways to normalise football in the country and don’t allow officials to take advantage of the vacuum as they will plunge the country into a deeper crisis.

“Kenyan football is suffering, we have been locked out of the international scene, there’s a big problem which needs to be solved and yet officials are jostling for power instead of putting Kenya first. Be aware Madam CS,” said Alila

On June 11, 2022, football stakeholders formed a 13-member committee to take over from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee.

Murang’a Seal chairman Robert Macharia will be the head of the committee should CS Amina accept and gazette it.  He will be deputised by Amos Otieno from Nairobi County, while Luthers Mokua from Nyanza will be secretary general.
