The second leg of the Homologated National Beach Volleyball Tour 2021 series goes down this weekend at Kiati River beach Wote in Makueni County, with hordes of Kenya’s top brass beach volleyballers set to battle each other for the national bragging rights and glory.

Africa’s beach volleyball continental cup champions and Kenya national women’s volleyball team captain Gaudencia Makokha (Kenya Pipeline) and Brackcides Khadambi Agala (Kenya Prisons) are among the top stars that have been confirmed to participate in the Makueni tour.

Makokha and Khadambi who represented Kenya in the delayed 2020 Olympics in Tokyo Japan this year, did not take part in the first leg of the National Beach Volleyball Tour held in Mbita, Homa Bay County, and heads to Makueni with heads high.

Sensational pairs of Gladys Wangui and Phosca Kasisi who emerged champions in the first leg in Homa Bay, have confirmed participation and are also hot favourites to win the Makueni Tour.

However, they will face stiff competition from Homa Bay finalists duo of Maureen Wekesa and Imenza Mercy as Naomie Too/Adhiambo, Jane/Akinyi, Phoscah Kasisi/Yvonne Wavinya, Likhayo/Jane, and Barasa/Kanus, all of whom have confirmed participation.

In the men’s category, fireworks expected as leg one winner’s Brian Melly and Naftali Chumba come under tough scrutiny when they come face-to-face with the talented duo of Jairus Kipkosgei/Elphas Makuto from Prisons Kenya, Allan/ Muliro, Willy/Maiyo, Mulemba/Manoti, Kiplagat/Kimaru, Kosirai/Wafula, Kelly/Gabu, James/Kamadi, David Thuita/Elijah Bosire as well as Neeke/Mbappe pairs.

“We are looking forward to having a wonderful weekend and seeing our own players here in Makueni squaring up with other players across the other regions including Olympians in this event. Come all and enjoy the great serenity of Makueni county” Makueni County Director of Sports Ambrose Kisoi said.
