League defending champions, Butali will play Green Sharks at City Park when the second leg of the Kenya Hockey Union gets underway this weekend.

But who wrapped up their first leg campaign in style whipping Wazalendo 6-2 in late June will be away in Nairobi hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table in the late Sunday afternoon kick-off at the City Park stadium.

Butali is at the summit of the league standings with 23 points, a point ahead of Kenya Police. At the same time, Police head coach Patrick Mugambi is confident his side will continue with the excellent run they exhibited in the first leg when they host Wazalendo at City Park-Nairobi on Saturday.

Mugambi has affirmed his squad is intact and has prepared well for the second leg of the league, hoping to edge the league leaders Butali from the summit.

“We are set for the second leg. All we want is a win in our first match on Saturday which will motivate us ahead of the other matches. If we try to draw or lose the game, Butali will be moving a mile ahead of us and we don’t that, now that we are already in the second leg,” said Mugambi.

On the other hand, Wazalendo head coach Joseph Njogu is calm having bolstered his squad, ahead of the second leg.

“From our first match of the season, we have made good progress and hope for a better performance than we had in the first leg. There are few changes with my first leg squad which we hope will add the spark we need to do better,” said Njogu.

Police who defeated Wazalendo 3-0 during the first leg, Wazalendo are currently third on the premier log with 14 points, points behind Police.
