Former Gor Mahia head coach Mark Harrison has landed a new job in Kenya barely three months after being sacked by record Kenyan league champions Gor Mahia.

Harrison will be in charge of the newly formed "Emerging Stars" football academy.

Kenya’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Manoah Esipisu confirmed the latest development on Tuesday in a tweet.

The initiative that had been initiated by a UK-based Kenyan pastor Boniface Mbugua has also advertised for vacancies in the coaching department in a bid to nurture as many talents as possible.

Amb. Esipisu said that English Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur will also help in setting up the project.

Esipisu tweeted, “Former Gor Mahia coach Mark Harrison is returning to Kenya to run a start-up soccer academy known as Emerging Stars, an initiative of Kenyan UK Pastor Boniface Mbugua with the partnership by premiership side @SpursOfficial inching close. Adding to the pool of talent for #WorldCup2026."

On January 29, 2022, the 19-time Kenyan champions Gor Mahia, sacked Harrison together with his assistants Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo and Fredrick Onyango over what was termed as 'poor performances' in the FKF Premier League.

Pamzo has since joined Kenya Police FC as the head coach overseeing two matches against Gor Mahia in which Police won 2-0 and a 1-1 draw against AFC Leopards.  Onyango, a former K'ogalo captain has since joined Kariobangi Sharks as the goalkeepers' trainer.

Harrison 61, featured for Nottingham Forest, Southampton and Stoke City during his playing days. He has also had coaching stints in Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
