The inaugural Kenya Beach Games officially kicked off at the weekend in Malindi, featuring a diverse array of sports disciplines including Taekwondo, Sprint Rowing, Individual Kata/Karate, Boxing, Dhow Racing, Aquathlon, Judo, Ajua, Open water swimming, and Surfing.

With over 800 athletes from around the country participating, the Kenya Beach Games promises to be a unique and exciting event for sports fans and enthusiasts alike.

Sports enthusiasts are in for a treat for the next couple of days, with a full schedule of events planned throughout the day. Highlights include the aquathlon, 3x3 Basketball under the floodlights, and the first-ever ITF World Ranking Beach Tennis Tournament. Spectators can expect to see top-level athletes competing in a range of sports, showcasing their skills and abilities in a stunning beachfront setting.

“We are thrilled to host the first-ever Kenya Beach Games, and we couldn’t be more excited about the range of sports and events on offer,” said NOCK Secretary-General, Francis Mutuku. “From traditional sports like boxing and judo to unique events like dhow racing and Ajua, there’s truly something for everyone at this year’s games.”

In addition to the sports themselves, the Kenya Beach Games is also featuring a range of food and drink vendors, live music, and cultural performances throughout the day, providing a festive atmosphere for athletes and spectators alike.

The Kenya Beach Games are a major milestone for the sport in Kenya. “We’re delighted to see such widespread interest in the games,” said Mutuku. “We hope that this event will help to put Kenya on the map as a top destination for beach sports and tourism.”
