The FIFA Congress has voted to confirm the suspension of the Football Kenya Federation. The confirmation now puts Kenyan football on an indefinite suspension.

198 out of 199 FIFA members voted yes to the action taken against the Kenyan footballing body. Only a single member voted for the country to avoid the suspension.

FIFA has also suspended Kenya from football activities over refusal of the Kenyan government to rescind the decision to disband the federation and hand over offices to the Caretaker Committee.

"The FIFA council suspended Kenya on February 24th with immediate effect due to third party interference, in particular, the take over of football by a Caretaker Committee appointed by the government which is a serious violation of the FIFA statutes." FIFA President Gianni Infantino said.

"It is therefore recommended that the Congress confirms the suspension of the Football Kenya Federation enabling the council to lift the suspension immediately and as soon as the pertinent requirements have been fulfilled," he added.

FIFA Secretary-General Fatma Samoura also brought up measures the Kenyan federation would face moving forward.

"The Council has confirmed the suspension of the Football Kenya Federation meaning that the federation is not entitled to vote at this congress and is also not authorized to exercise any of its membership rights," Samoura explained.
