Bidco United coach Anthony Akhulia was left impressed after his team earned a goalless draw away to Nairobi Stima at Karuturi Stadium yesterday.

The titanic clash between the promotion contenders was the highlight of round 18 in the National Super League as the mid-season break nears.

Stima, who are second on the log with 35 points started quickly with forwards Victor Omune and Douglas Mokaya testing the opposing goalkeeper but to little avail.

At the other end, Bidco tried long balls to try and find the dangerous David Orem in the spaces while Jacob Onyango also had his moments in what sometimes degenerated into a cagey affair.

The draw sees Bidco remain third on the 19-team log 10 points behind leaders Nairobi City Stars who have 43 points after beating Administration Police 3-1 at Camp Toyoyo yesterday.

“Coming to Karuturi and playing the way we did was a plus. I am proud of the players for following instructions. At least we are in a strong position on the table,” Akhulia told People Sport in Naivasha after seeing his side share the spoils.

At Gusii Stadium, red hot Fred Nyakundi, alias Malouda, hit a hat-trick as Shabana left it late to secure all points against a hard-fighting Migori Youth in a feisty encounter.

The end result was a 3-2 scoreline in favour of Tore Bobe in a match that played on a waterlogged pitch.

It was coach Andrew Kanuli’s third win after returning to the helm following the departure of Gilbert Selebwa last month.

The win means Shabana are up to ninth on the log with 24 points while Migori stick to fifth with 28 points.

In other results, Muranga Seal beat St Joseph’s 3-2 at Afraha Stadium while Kibera Black Stars got the better of struggling FC Talanta whom they hammered 3-0.

Newcomers Vihiga Bullets and Mount Kenya United tied 1-1, the same result witnessed in the match between Modern Coast Rangers and Ushuru FC at Mbaraki grounds.
