Gor Mahia FC are set to make a significant move in the transfer market by acquiring two talented players, Ugandan striker Patrick Kaddu and Rwandan defender Emery Bayisenge.

According to Raymond Oruo, the club's Chief Executive Officer, the two players are already training with the team as they finalize their transfers.

Training with Gor Mahia

"We are working on it," he said in an Interview with K24. "Patrick Kaddu and Emery Bayisenge are already training with us, and we are in the process of concluding the negotiations so that we can sign them officially when the window opens."

Kaddu, who has played for Moroccan clubs RS Berkane and Youssoufia Berrechid and Egyptian team Ismaily SC, is expected to add depth to Gor Mahia's attacking unit. He has 21 caps with the Ugandan National team and has scored nine goals.

On the other hand, Bayisenge is a free agent who was released by Bangladeshi club Saiph Sporting Club due to financial constraints associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. The defender has played 21 matches for the club, scoring seven goals, and has over 43 appearances with the Rwandan National team.

Joining the ranks of Rwandan players who have previously played for Gor Mahia Bayisenge will follow in the footsteps of notable names such as Meddie Kagere, Abouba Sibomana, Jacques Tuyisenge, and Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza.

Meanwhile, Patrick Kaddu will join a list of prominent Ugandan players who have previously donned the Gor Mahia jersey, including Tito Okello, Khalid Aucho, Dan Sserunkuma, Godfrey Walusimbi, and Hashim Sempala.

Why Gor Mahia are signing duo

While signing foreign players comes at a cost for the club, Oruo believes that it is a necessary investment to build a strong squad that can compete with Africa's best teams

"Quality costs," he said. "When Gor Mahia won four or five times in a row, we had top-quality players. If we want to be the best in Africa, we have to invest in the best players. I'm not saying that our current players aren't good, but to compete with the best, we need the best."

Overall, Gor Mahia's move to sign Kaddu and Bayisenge shows their ambition to become a dominant in the local league.
