Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has turned down a request from Premier League outfit Murang’a Seal to have presidential aspirant Hussein Mohammed as their representative at the federation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) set for Nairobi on Saturday.

In a response to the promoted club signed by FKF CEO Barry Otieno, the federation said after a comprehensive review of the registration documents and other details, Mohammed is ineligible to represent the club.

The letter obtained by People Sports read in part: “We are in receipt of your correspondence dated March 5, 2024, nominating Hussein Mohammed as Murang’a Seal delegate in the upcoming FKF congress.”

“Following a comprehensive review of the registration documents and other details thereof regarding Murang’a Seal submitted in compliance with Article L02 and L03 of the FKF Club lincensing Regulations and Article 54 and 55 of the CAF men’s club lincensing regulations (2022) attached for your reference, we would like to inform you that Hussein Mohammed is nor registered with FKF as a member of Murang’a Seal or FKF general, in accordance with Article 11 of the FKF constitution (2017)and Article 8.1.4 of the FKF regulations governing Kenyan football (2019).”

The statement concluded by saying: “In light of the aforementioned, Hussein Mohammed is therefore ineligible to represent Murang’a Seal in the upcoming FKF Annual General Meeting.”

FKF further faulted Muranga’s request by stating: “Furthermore, it is important to note that based on the documents submitted during the club licensing registration process, Murang’a Seal is formally registered as Murang’a Sports Excellence Academy Limited. Robert Kenneth Wanyoike Macharia is identified as the sole director of the entity, which is duly recognized as Murang’a Seal for FKF activities.”

An official representing Mohammed, who did not want to be named, faulted the decision by FKF saying the federation did not have any mandate to dictate to clubs whom to send to the AGM.

“Macharia is the chairman of FKF Murang’a County, how is he going to represent the County at the same time and the club?” the official posed, adding: “Secondly, if Murang’a was registered by Macharia, they have the certificate of registration and Hussein (Mohammed) is a registered official. FKF have no mandate to dictate to clubs, who to send to the AGM.”

Former FKF President Sam Nyamweya said the decision by FKF should be respected and followed to the letter. “If Hussein (Mohammed) is not appearing in the records of FKF then he has no business attending the AGM,” Nyamweya told People Sports, adding: “FKF are the custodians of all club records and I don’t think they will go berserk to deny him a right to attend a meeting if he has attained the required laws to attend.”

After kick-starting the process of the eagerly awaited elections early in January, FKF set March 16 as the date for the AGM, whose main agenda will be to confirm the date for the exercise.
