Jonah Ayunga scored in St Mirren's 2-0 triumph over Celtic at the SMiSA Stadium, handing the Champions their first league defeat in over a year.

Prior to this match, Celtic had not lost a Premiership match since 19 September 2021 when they fell by a solitary goal against Livingston.

First win since 2010

It was the Saints' first home win against the Celtic since a stunning 4-0 win in 2010. Mark O'Hara and Jonah Ayunga scored in either side of half-time to seal another memorable outcome.

Celtic controlled possession in the first half but failed to put St Mirren's goalie to the test.

And it was the home side who scored the opening goal of the game two minutes before the interval, when a pass lobbed to the back post was met by the head of their captain, Mark O'Hara, who headed home from a few of yards away, giving Joe Hart no chance.

Ange Postecoglou made a double substitution at halftime, with Reo Hatate and Jota replacing Aaron Mooy and Daizen Maeda, but St Mirren took the lead on 52 minutes.

St Mirren led 2-0 when a long throw-in was not cleared and was nodded back across the six-yard box for Ayunga to head home.

Paisley almost made it three soon after the hour mark, but O'Hara's header from eight yards out was off goal.
