Kenya Lionesses head coach Paul Murunga has made three changes to the starting lineup for Wednesday’s Rugby Africa Women’s Cup clash against South Africa at the Stade Makis in Antananarivo.

Faith Livoi has been moved from the second row to the backline, starting at inside center alongside Esther Juma in the midfield partnership, as Lewin Amazimbi is not featuring in the match day squad.

Hesla Khisa, who came off the bench during Saturday’s 29-22 defeat to Madagascar, will start in the second row alongside Naomi Jelagat, resulting in a rejigged pack that sees Enid Ouma shifting from the blindside to number eight.

Mitchelle Akinyi has also been handed a start in the backrow after her appearance as a replacement on Saturday.

Diana Kemunto, a starter in the previous match, will come off the bench, while Nolin Khaleyi and Hellen Anyango could make their first starts of the tournament after being named among the replacements.

This comes as the Lionesses aim to bounce back after their 29-22 defeat to hosts Madagascar in their Rugby Africa Women’s Cup opening fixture at the Stade Makis in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

They led 12-5 at halftime, having raced into a 12-0 lead early in the first half when winger Terry Ayesa grounded the ball, finishing off a move that started after retaining possession from an attacking lineout deep in Madagascar’s half.

Anne Ochieng secured the conversion as the Lionesses led 7-0 after seven minutes of play.

Diana Awino scored at the corner to put the Lionesses 12-0 up on eighteen minutes, but the hosts scored an unconverted try to end the first half seven points adrift.

Another unconverted try after the break brought the scores to 12-10 before Rose Otieno barged over to take the Lionesses 17-10 up.

Madagascar began to put the Lionesses on the backfoot, scoring a converted try to level the scores at 17-17 before Awino landed her brace to take the Lionesses 22-17 up.
