Double world record holder Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon’s dream of buying father a car came to pass as he bought a brand new Toyota Probox car for his father on the eve of Fathers Day.

Kipyegon became the first woman to run under 3 minutes, 50 seconds (3:49.11) to break the 1500m world record and a week later she achieved the same feat in the 5,000 meters women race where she broke the second record at the Paris Diamond League on June 9, by clocking 14:05.20, winning the race ahead of former world record-holder Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia.

As she was planning to buy the car, she received a surprise call from Rana Auto Selection offering to give her father a new vehicle.

The vehicle came in handy after Kipyegon promised on Monday that the cash awards she received from President William Ruto at State House Nairobi, she would use part of it to buy her father a new car.

Kipyegon said that the dream has come to pass as Rana gave her father a brand new Toyota Probox after the promise.

“I’m very happy I cannot hide my joy, I was surprised to receive a call from a friend of Rana that they will gift my father  new car, I really appreciate such love so amazing ,mine is just to say a big thank you Rana for rewarding my father,” said Kipyegon.

Her father Samuel Koech who was visibly excited, remained calm behind a bold smile was a happy man after receiving his first vehicle in life time and appreciated her daughter for the achievement. Koech said that he used to ride a motorcycle but never owned any vehicle in his life and the blessings finally made his dreams a reality.

He noted that the car came in handy since he is a maize and potato farmer in Kuresoi, Molo Nakuru county and now he will use it to transport his produce to the market.

“This is my first vehicle in my life and I’m very happy even as I receive it in my old age but I have to thank my daughter for running across the world to bring such glory to me and the family,” said Koech.

Rana Auto Selection Company Chief Executive Officer Sultan Rana said it is a worthy gesture to praise and gift athletes when they perform well, they are just like our customers we do celebrate them by awarding.

“We are pleased to be part of those supporting faith and celebrate her achievements and continue to market our country globally,” said Rana.
