Victoria Handball Super Cup defending champions Kisumu Saints are confident of clinching a double when they take on 18 other teams in the challenge games that start on Saturday in Kisumu.

The 2020 competition which is the tournament’s second edition, take place this weekend at Rainbow Grounds and speaking to People Sports yesterday, Saints team captain Derrick Oruko said this year’s competition poses a fierce challenge as compared to last year when they clinched their maiden title.

Oruko who also led his team to lift the 2020 Victoria Handball Super League (VHSL) title for the first time after three years of asking, remained grounded, saying that they have set their eyes on nothing less than retaining the super cup title.

“The competition ahead of us isn’t easy, we believe it’s going to be highly contested and because of that, we’re training hard to ensure that we maintain our position.

We’re currently sharpening on our areas of weakness just to ensure that we emerge victorious but generally, we’re prepared and everybody wants to bag this super cup challenge trophy once again,” Kisumu Saints captain Derrick Oruko told People Sports.

The Saints are in Pool E alongside Sigalagala Handball Club and invited side Recce Nairobi Handball Club and start their title defense against Nairobi side from 9:10am before wrapping up the preliminaries against Sigalagala as from 12.30pm.
