Mapwanya stretches lead ahead of Safari Golf Tour final day

Zimbabwean Visitor Mapwanya has maintained a commanding lead in the ongoing Safari Tour golf series hosted by the Par 72 Limuru Country club after he settled for a score of 69 in the penultimate round for a total of -13.

Speaking to People Sports Mapwanya said: “It was a good round today and I really enjoyed the way I played because looking at the pin positions, they were tougher than the first two rounds. My most challenging holes were number 3 and 8 from the tee off but Limuru is a better course for my game compared to last week’s leg in Sigona.”

Commenting on his odds to win the title previously won by Zimbabwean Nyasha Muyambo he said “ Yes am going to win it,” said Mapwanya.

Mapwanya suffered two bogeys at hole one and 18 but he had five birdies to recover his score and left him unmoved from the pole position on the leaderboard where locals Daniel Nduva and Dismas Indiza are tied at second place with -7.

All the top three leaders shot in five birdies each but it was Dismas Indiza who led the third round after carding in an impressive score of 67.

Daniel Nduva got hurt by the tough front nine where he got two bogeys at numbers 6 and 7 to pave way for Indiza to catch up.

Nduva said “The pin positions were tough but the course is in perfect condition and the weather is also great so am going for my best score in the final round but I will need to be patient and execute my chances well,” commented Nduva.

Sigona’s champ Greg Snow and Uganda’s Rodel Gaita are tied on third place with -4. Greg suffered a bogey at number eight but he wrote them off with five birdies to finish round three with an impressive score of 68 while Gaita shot in three consecutive birdies in the first three to predict a good day that ended with a score of 70.

Kenya Railways pro Samuel Njoroge is now fourth on the logs with -3 and is followed closely by the trio of Uganda’s Dave Kamulindwa, John Kagiri and Njoroge Kibugu who are at fifth place with a a score of -1.
