Peter Cheruiyot wins Kambasome Golf trophy at Mombasa Golf Club

Home player Peter Cheruiyot emerged the overall winner of the much publicized Kambasome annual golf tournament played at the par 71 seafront Mombasa Golf Club course over the weekend.

Playing off handicap 28 Cheruiyot carded an excellent 41 stable ford points to claim the overall lead in the day long 18 holes tournament that attracted 180 golfers from the home club and others from across the Country’s golf clubs.

The event organized by the Mombasa based ‘Wakwitu” Golfers under the umbrella of “Kambasome is the second hosted at the club and aimed at highlighting the Kamba culture, and strengthening the unity   of the Community.

Elvis Nduati playing off handicap 20 was the  men winner on  a  count back score of 40 points after tying on the same points with handicap 16  Joel Mochanga  who was the runners  and  handicap 19 Elijah Ibua  was third on 39 points.

 Machakos Golf club’s Lady Golfer Scola Onsonga  playing off handicap 28 was the Lady  winner with 40 points  while  handicap 27 Caroline Munyi on 33 points and handicap 26 Faith Muteti with 32 points were the runners up and third placed respectively.

The Kambasome winner on 36 points was handicap 28 Petronilah Kale while handicap 20 Paul Munyao brought 35 points for the runner’s u slot and handicap 27 Joseph Kitema was third with 33 points.

 The high handicapper men  winner’s prize was won by handicap  48 Brian Warui who had a score of 33 points  and the same for  lady was claimed  by handicap 46  Diana Nthiwa on 39 points while  handicap 20 Fidel Wasike emerged the Junior  with 27 points.

 The sponsors was jointly sponsored by Munyao,Muthama & Kashindi (MMK) advocates,Wakwitu golfers, ports Sacco,Envasses Environmental Consultants Limited,Khushi Motors, Friends of Kambsome,Africa Bliss Travels Limited,Dala Dala and Pernod Ricard.

Club Chairman Paul Munyao and   Captain James Gitonga appreciated the organizers, Sponsors and the golfers for making the event successful adding that the event has left a mark at the club that will be remembered for many years.

 Wakwitu Golfers Captain Joseph Kitema said the event thanked all participants for a successful day and promised that next year  it will be better and bigger  at the same venue.
