A rusty Kenya rugby sevens side, Shujaa has booked a date with a familiar foe against South Africa in the Cup quarter-finals of the Dubai sevens set for tomorrow.

Shujaa qualified for the Cup quarter-finals as the second-best third-placed team to book an African affair fixture against last weekend’s Champions, who are on a 21-match unbeaten this season.

The tantalising fixture is scheduled to start at 9:50 AM East African time and 8:50 AM SA time.

The Blitzboks managed to record three wins in three games in the group stage, beating Great Britain (21-7) before going on to brush off Japan and Ireland respectively.

On the other side, Shujaa managed to record one win in the competition after they kicked off the second leg of the Dubai Sevens Series on a low note after losing 21-14 to Australia in the opening match of the Group B matches played at The Sevens Stadium in the UAE.

The Innocent Simiyu coached side would go on to lose their second fixture of the day 24-21 against Mike Friday's coached side, USA.

However, Shujaa would go on to end their five-match losing streak with a clinical 26-14 win against Canada in their last Pool “B” fixture to storm the quarter-final of the second Dubai tournament in the 2021-2022 World Rugby Sevens Series on Friday.

Kenya’s win over Canada saw them secure third place, tied on five points with Pool “C” third-placed side Spain but with a better point difference.

Australia won Pool “B” by defeating the USA, as they both qualified automatically for the last eight of the Dubai sevens.
