Neighbours and a high-flying duo of  Shabana FC and Mara Sugar FC come head to head in the highlight game that ushers round six of the national Super League for the 2022/23 season.

Nine games are lined up in the second-tier league with two being played today and another seven matches set for tomorrow.

Before the season break, Shabana were jointly on top of the log with Kibera Black Stars with 10 points. They are the team on form so far after posting three wins and a draw in the last four matches.

Hosts Mara Sugar who will be playing their fourth match have seven points in three matches and will be hoping to excel in Awendo Stadium tomorrow.

In recent matches, Shabana had a 3-2 edge over Mara plus one draw in the past six matches played.

In another exciting clash today, top-of-the-table Kibera Black Stars lock horns with Mwatate United who are in sixth place in the standings.

The Slum Boys who are on 10 points from five matches have two wins and a draw in the last three matches played.

Even with the duel at Wundanyi Stadium in Taita favouring them, the hosts should still pose a problem to their visitors.

Black Stars head coach Evans Ogutu has warned his charges against complacency in the away trip.

“We cannot go there and expect easy roses, we must work hard. They (Mwatate) might have had recent problems but everyone knows how dangerous such teams can be.

Easy ride

“For us, we just focus on our own game and I do not believe for a minute it will be an easy ride for us so respect for the opponents is crucial,” he told People Sport.

Meanwhile third placed Migori Youth FC are lined up to face second-from-bottom side Mombasa Elite FC who are yet to win a single match in three games played.

The rejuvenated border team on the other hand have six points off three games but will be positive ahead of the clash at Mbaraki Grounds.

In the last five games pitting the pair, Migori Youth has incidentally only won once against four by the Elite side.

This statistic could be of benefit to the home side whose fans will be hoping for an improved performance.

Other lined-up matches Saturday include, bottom-placed Silibwet Leons hosting 13th-placed Mully Children’s Family FC at Bomet Stadium.

Lowly Leons have lost all three opening matches of this season but have a chance to come good at their backyard against a side yet to score a goal in two games.

Both teams have a couple of games in hand but would want a winning start to the campaign from this fixture.

Elsewhere last season top two clubs APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco will also be in action after facing frustrations in their quest to be promoted to the national premier league.

APS will be in Nairobi tomorrow against fifth-placed Naivas FC at Camp Toyoyo Grounds while the Fortune side from Kirinyaga County will host Coastal Heroes at Kianyaga Stadium in Kerugoya.
