Former Head of Public Service and current Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia has said the insults thrown at ODM leader Raila Odinga before the handshake was as a result of political competition with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"All those negative things we said about Raila Odinga were just politics because he was in competition with Uhuru Kenyatta," Kimemia said when he appeared on a local television Tuesday morning.

At the same time, Kimemia said Mt. Kenya region will vote as a block, given that the region cannot afford to be out of government come next year.

"I can assure you that if there is a time Mt Kenya will vote as a united front, it is 2022 because we cannot afford to be out of government,” Kimemia said.

Kimemia also said the region has no political debt to pay with anyone and should be to exercise their democratic right like every Kenyan.

"Mt Kenya region has no political debts to pay, we are citizens like any others, and we should be allowed to exercise our democratic right like anybody else," Kimemia added

The Governor would also take the opportunity to castigate DP William Ruto asking him to have greater respect for his party boss on his quest to succeed President Uhuru.

"Most of us are not able to understand what DP Ruto's 'bottom-up' means but like any other competitor he can come look for votes, the only thing we'd like to see is greater respect for his boss,” Kimemia said
