Kenya Kwanza MCAs dominate Kirinyaga County Assembly

Kenya Kwanza Alliance has the highest number of representatives at the Kirinyaga County Assembly after scooping 19 seats out of 20 in the just concluded general election.

According to a gazette notice by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) listing all MCAs elected in Kenya, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has a total of 17 MCAs, Mwangi Kiunjuri's The Service Party (2) and Jubilee Party (1).

Out of the 20 elected MCAs, only one is a woman.

Two MCAs retain seats

Only two MCAs in the county managed to retain their seats in the August 9 general election.

The two will now be serving their third term in the county assembly after being sworn in to perform their legislative duties.

Both were elected on a UDA party ticket.

Two former MCAs who were trounced in 2017 managed to make a comeback under UDA.
