Two voters in Machakos have challenged the clearance of former Transport Chief Administrative Secretary(CAS) Wavinya Ndeti by the electoral commission to contest for the Machakos governor's seat.

In a complaint lodged at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) disputes resolution committee, the two identified as Gideon Ngewa Kenya and Kisilu Mutisya want Wavinya disqualified from the contest on grounds that she has no university degree as required by law.

Petitioners claim Wavinya has questionable certificates

The two also noted that the wiper party candidate had questionable academic certificates adding that there is no record to prove that she studied in the UK.

"Ms Ndeti is not a holder of a degree recognized in Kenya. On November 6, 1992, she was purportedly awarded a Master's degree in Business systems analysis and design by the City University, London without having undertaken the first degree," they claimed.

Further, the two informed the committee that on July 18, 1995, Wavinya apparently obtained a degree (Bsc) in Computing Studies from South Bank University London.

"Undertaking a degree after being awarded a master's in a closely-related subject is equally problematic. The degree in Computing Studies awarded by South Bank University to Ms Ndeti raises a number of issues," they claimed.

As far as they are concerned 'the title of the degree is extremely uncommon to a point where it does not feature online as a course'.

They also argued that if elected Wavinya will be incompetent owing to the fact that she has no skills and qualifications to direct the management of massive public resources.
