Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders in Kilifi county have called on the electorate to vote for party candidates only in the August polls.

Led by governor candidate Gideon Mung’aro, the leaders told residents to reject both Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader, who they claimed was to blame for the under-development of the region.

Addressing a rally in Chasinga area yesterday, Mung’aro pledged to address healthcare shortfalls, neglected infrastructure, water scarcity and food security.

Mung’aro (pictured), who is battling the top seat against George Kithi of PAA and Aisha Jumwa of UDA, said runaway corruption had affected service delivery, promising to fight it once elected.

“This corruption menace that had derailed services at the devolved government. Cases where county employees only report in the morning then run away from work  will come to an end,” Mung’aro said.

Present at the rally  were  Senator Stewart Madzayo, Women Rep Gertrude Mbeyu, Kilifi North MP aspirant Eliud Kalama, Azimio youth leader Fikirini Jacobs and Malindi MP aspirant Amina Mnyazi.

Madzayo said the county was lucky after the Senate approved more allocation of Sh2.9 billion, hence making it the top in terms of allocation.  “I worked hard at the Senate and the county is now among the top in terms of allocation. That now means more service delivery to the people,” Madzayo stated.

He poked holes on Governor Amason Kingi’s administration despite the county getting huge allocations.  “There is a lot of corruption in the county. Money is stolen in bags and that has left most of the people poor and without any help. The only person who shall end that challenge is Mung’aro,” he added.

Menu said that in order for the county to enhance development, the only option is by electing Mung’aro.
