Infotrak: Raila beats Ruto, leads in popularity with 42%
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga would beat his Kenya Kwanza counterpart William Ruto if elections were held today, a new poll by InfoTrak shows.
In the data released on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, Raila leads with 42 per cent in popularity with Ruto coming second with 38 per cent.
The polling firm says the ODM leader would garner 9.3 million votes and Ruto 8.4 million votes. None of the candidates would meet the 'fifty-plus one' constitutional requirement.
Speaking during a press conference, Infotrak CEO Angela Ambitho said the survey was conducted between 23 and 27 May 2022.
The firm conducted 9,000 interviews across all the 290 constituencies in 47 counties. The survey's margin of error was plus or minus one.
The Infotrak boss, while referring to previous polls, said Ruto dropped in popularity after naming Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate, while Raila maintained his 42 per cent.
She said Raila is ahead in 20 counties while Ruto is more popular in 16.
