Uhuru heads to Mt. Kenya for a series of events ahead of his last days in office

President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to tour his home turf Mt Kenya where he is expected to campaign for his preferred successor Raila Odinga.

An itinerary seen by People daily digital shows that the head of state will make his first stop at Kenol, Murang'a county to inspect the ongoing construction of the Kenol-Sagana-Marua dual carriageway.

He will then head to Othaya in Nyeri county to commission the Mwai Kibaki hospital and the Mwai Kibaki hospital oxygen production unit.

"His excellency the president inspects the ongoing construction of Kenol-Sagana-Marua Dual carriageway," the itinerary reads in parts.

The head of state who will be accompanied by the first lady Margaret Kenyatta, Regional Commissioner, central region Ms Esther Maina.

Uhuru will later proceed to Dedan Kimathi University for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Dedan Kimathi University Comprehensive Cancer Management Centre, before heading for Chaka to oversee the commissioning of the Chaka industrial hub and market.

The first in command is then expected to conclude his activities after he commissions the rehabilitated Thika-Nanyuki metre Gauge (MGR) railway line and the new Chaka railway station.
