Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah is set to launch his manifesto on Thursday, June 30, 2022.

The launch is set to happen at the Kenya International Conference Centre (KICC) from 4:00 pm, according to the party.

"Prof Wajackoyah and running mate Justina Wamae will unveil their vision for the Kenya we should be living in, a Kenya of progress and prosperity for everyone," Party spokesperson Wilson Muirani said.

The manifesto will focus on 12 issues that he will address if he takes power on August 9, when Kenya holds her General Elections.

Among his key promises include legalising the growth and sale of cannabis to not only increase money circulation in the economy but also help settle Kenya’s international and domestic huge debts.

Wajackoyah and Roots party popularity

Wajackoyah who has gained a lot of traction in the recent past according to opinion polls has promised to trounce Raila Odinga and William Ruto in the August polls, who are seen as the favourites to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta. Roots party popularity has been neck-to-neck with the ruling Jubilee Party.

“I want to tell Raila and Ruto that I am Kenyan just like them. They should all go home with the president in August. They are the ones responsible for the mess we are currently witnessing in the country. They should not despise others and treat them as lesser beings. I want to tell them that I will win this vote by 65 per cent,” he said.

Other promises by the controversial politician include the suspension of the Constitution in the first six months, death penalty for the corrupt, reduce official working days to four, increase maternity leave for women to one year, introduce eight prime ministers and relocate the capital city from Nairobi to Isiolo.
