Saint Chama: Taking Mombasa gospel scene by storm

Tell us a bit about yourself: I'm Chama Andrew my stage name is Saint Chama. I'm a gospel singer who uses music to give hope to the hopeless.

What challenges have you faced so far? Many people discouraged me from doing gospel music saying that it has no market

What is your most memorable moment as an artist? It is the day I did my first video shoot I had so much fun and made unforgettable memories that day

What genres are you looking to do this year? I have done alot if rap music this year but I'm looking to do alot of bongo, taarab,reggae and contemporary worship songs

When and what inspired you to get into gospel music? I first discovered my talent when I was in primary school so I started doing secular songs I then turned my life around in 2016 and began doing gospel songs

Why did you choose Saint Chama to be your stage name? I chose the name after I almost lost my life three times and that's when I chose to go with the name Saint Chama and I also felt like God has given me a task to accomplish (gospel music) before my time is over.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were starting out? I wish I knew that one day I would be a great gospel singer inspite of many not believing in me when I started out.

What mantra do you live by? Believe that the future is bright you will make it

What advise do you have for people who wish to follow in your footsteps? Never give up nothing is impossible
