COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to make a political comeback after his retirement from politics come August.

Speaking during the labour day celebrations in Nyayo Stadium, the controversial trade unionist exuded confidence that the Head of State is only headed for a short leave before returning to the political scene.

"You (Uhuru Kenyatta) are the first President of the Republic of Kenya to exit office while you are still young. I know for sure that you are just going on leave. That does not mean you cannot come back," he said.

Atwoli also urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to support the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance without fear or favour. He stated that he is very confident that the Raila-led coalition will floor its competitors in the upcoming presidential contest.

The trade unionist also took the platform to take a dig at the Salaries and Remunerations Commission. Atwoli claimed that the commission has frustrated Kenyans by usurping the powers of other relevant organizations in the labour market.

"SRC has frustrated workers. We negotiate through CBAs and SRC comes in to say NO. MPs should revisit the issue of SRC usurping powers of organizations," he said.
