Deputy President William Ruto has on Tuesday, February 22 received former Laikipia County Governor Joshua Irungu to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

The DP also received Koinage Wahome, who is also gunning for the Laikipia gubernatorial seat. The second-in-command revealed that he will broker a truce between the two competitors.

"Welcomed former Laikipia County Governor Joshua Irungu to UDA. He is seeking to recapture his seat on a UDA Party ticket. Irungu is in talks with his main competitor, Koinage Wahome, on how they can work together to secure victory in the General Election," Ruto posted.

The presidential hopeful also received; Hon Joseph Gitari ( who is running for the Kirinyaga Central parliamentary seat), John Ololtuaa (running for the Kilgoris parliamentary seat) and Josephine Koisabba ( who is running for the Narok County Woman Representative seat).

Recent opinion poll ratings have indicated that Ruto's nascent party is among the fastest-growing political outfits in the nation. UDA has over time netted defectors from the ruling Jubilee party and its affiliates. The disgruntled Jubilee party members ditched the ruling party after the Uhuru-Ruto fallout.
