A section of Jubilee Party legislators have condemned the arrest of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa who is being detained at Kilindini police station in Mombasa.

The legislators, led by Uasin Ngishu Women Representative Gladys Shollei accused the police of being selective when dealing with errant politicians.

Citing an incident in Kibra where MPs Junet Mohamed and Babu Owino are alledged to have uttered derogatory remarks last weekend, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa said Handshake should not be used to 'cover up criminals'.

"If babu Owino and Junet have not been arrested, then we are just wasting tax payers money. Police should move with speed to arrest the ODM criminals ," Didmus said.

"We know the evil schemes that ODM politicians have in Kibra. They do not want to stop Mariga from campaigning but also planning for chaos during the election date," Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa said.

Aisha Jumwa was arrested early Wednesday after she and her supporters stormed a meeting organized by an ODM candidate in the Ganda Ward by-elections where one person was shot dead.
