CAS appointments: Lawyer Ahmednasir asks Ruto to exclude poll losers, reduce number to 23

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has weighed in on President William Ruto's long list and choice of his nominated Chief Administrative Secretaries (CASs) for respective appointments.

In a statement shared via his official Twitter account, the senior counsel who is an ally of Ruto noted that the Head of State should reconsider reducing the number of the nominated CASs to 23.

The lawyer also suggested that Ruto should reduce the number of nominees by excluding those who lost during the August election.

"I think H.E. William Ruto should reconsider the 50 CAS he nominated. He needs to reduce the nominees to the 23 vacancies his office sought from the Public Service Commission and exclude all those who lost seats in the August elections. Don't give jobs to those rejected by the people!" he wrote.

Ahmednasir has joined other leaders and citizens in criticizing the president for his decision to nominate 50 individuals to the positions of CAS.

Gachagua defends Ruto's list

Recently, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua came out to defend Ruto's number of CASs claiming that the positions were meant to revitalize existing capacity and strength by bringing in new energy.

The outspoken DP affirmed that the new CASs if approved by parliament will help revive the country's dwindling economy.

"On CAS appointments, Ministries have cross-cutting issues that need to be addressed. We bring in new energy to revitalize existing capacity and strength,

"This country has a lot of work of reviving the economy and that is why the government needs a big team that will be dispersed across the world to look for the markets of our products," the DP stated.
