Political strategist Mutahi Ngunyi insists that Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga lost last year's presidential election because he was disorganised.

In a social media post, Ngunyi, who supported Raila's presidential bid in the August 2022 poll, took issue with the politician's attacks on US Ambassador Meg Whitman after the envoy gave the election a clean bill of health recently.

He suggested that if President Willian Ruto indeed rigged the election as Raila claims, then the opposition chief should blame himself for being disorganised.

Ngunyi also poured cold water on the former prime minister's bid pushing for an audit of the electoral servers, saying the "truth is not in the server".

"Dear Babaman (Raila): Did you order Meg Whitman (the American) to shut up because she is a woman or because she spoke the truth? Or is it both? If Ruto rigged the 2022 election, the truth is not in the server. The truth is that you were disorganised. Period," Ngunyi wrote on X, formally Twitter, on Saturday.

Ngunyi recently claimed that Raila lost because he over-relied on the 'deep state' to deliver him the presidency.

According to Ngunyi, the Azimio boss thought he would clinch the presidency after getting the backing of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“He believed that he would get the presidency automatically because of Uhuru Kenyatta’s support. Therefore, he did not put as much effort as I thought he would. I once raised that issue with him when I visited his home in Karen and told him that if Uhuru does not come to campaign for you in Central [region] you are going to lose,” the former Uhuru technical assistant told NTV days after he announced his 'defection' to Ruto's camp.

“I told him relying on the deep state would result in a loss because it [the deep state] is incompetent as currently constituted. It will not deliver this election for you. If you trust the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission [IEBC] to deliver election for you, then they won’t."

Meg Whitman weighs in on Kenyan poll

The US ambassador stated on Wednesday that last year's general election was the most credible in Kenyan history.

Speaking at the Devolution Conference in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, the ambassador argued that the Supreme Court’s endorsement of the poll was a testament to the transparency of the electoral process.

“I arrived in Kenya days before the August 2022 General Election; what I witnessed was nothing short of remarkable. Kenya held, what many analysts and commentators say, was the free-est, fairest and most credible election in Kenyan history,” Whitman stated.

The comments, however, irked Raila who accused her of meddling with the country's affairs.

Speaking at the same event on Thursday, Raila termed the ambassador as "rogue" and threatened to seek her recall if she doesn't steer clear of the matter.

“Kenya is not a colony of the US. Keep your mouth shut, otherwise, we shall go for a recall. She should leave Kenyans alone,” Raila angrily said.
