Deputy President William Ruto yesterday toured Kiambu County for the second time in three days and promised to revamp the country’s economy through job creation if he becomes President.
“My government plans to allocate Sh100 billion towards housing, manufacturing, value addition and agro-processing, all geared towards job creation for our youth,” he said.

He said the Jubilee administration had laid down a firm economic revolution foundation in its Big Four Agenda and accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of sabotaging the same after the Handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The DP was flanked by MPs Majimbo Kalasinga (Kabuchai Ford Kenya), Owen Baya (Kilifi ODM), Njuguna Wanjiku (Kiambaa UDA) Charles Jaguar (Starehe), Githua Wamacukuru (Kabete), Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu) and Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira) spoke at Kwa Mbira after attending a church service at St Andrews Catholic Church, Rironi, Limuru sub-county.

Also accompanying the DP were a host of parliamentary, senatorial, woman reps and civic aspirants with Ruto exuding confidence that he will overwhelmingly win the Presidential seat during the August 9 polls.
Drumming up support for his bottom-up economic model, the DP accused Raila of insincerity for promising to give a stipend of Sh6,000 to the jobless and termed the same as hand-outs.

“We respect you because of your age but you should respect the Kenyan youths. The youth don’t require hand-outs but permanent solutions which is through job creation and availability of affordable and accessible loans facilities,” he said.

He affirmed that his administration will endeavour to create jobs for the youth and also avail interest-free loans to all those willing to conduct small and medium enterprises.

“Creating employment for our youth will be our number one priority. We shall also take loan facilities to the ward levels so that everyone will have access to them,” he said.

On health matters, the DP reiterated that his government will ensure that every Kenyan will have their health insurance catered for through the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

“Those of you who will be able to pay for the insurance will enjoy free services by the government because we shall be committed to ensuring that Universal Health Care becomes a reality,” he said.

He called upon Kenyans to shun leaders who are bent on dividing them into tribal lines noting that he and President Uhuru Kenyatta laid the anti-tribal political competition in 2013 and 2017.

Baya prevailed upon Kenyans to reject a Raila presidency saying that it would lead the country to retrogression.

“We in Kilifi and the coast at large have defected to UDA. Raila has wasted a lot of our time and I urge every voter to reject his overtures”, he said.

Kalasinga said that the joining of hands by Ruto, Mudavadi and Wetangula gave the country a winning formula adding that the trio plus other partners will win the elections with an overwhelming majority.

“We were walking alone in Ford Kenya and ANC but when we bagged Ruto as a partner, we became assured of being outright winners during the August polls”, he said.

The MP called upon Uhuru to ensure that he will vote for Ruto as a show of solidarity and a courteous way of paying his political debt to him for standing with him in 2013 and 2017.

“We want to ensure that Ruto goes to State House. I beseech our President to ensure that he will at least cast his vote in favour of his DP,” he said.

This is the DP’s communication office affirmed that he is the embodiment of an inclusive, transformative and strategic leadership style that attracts Kenyans with similar intent.

“His bottom-up economic model speaks of his belief in prioritizing and empowering majority Kenyans suffering endemic economic marginalization as a result of ‘Top-Down’ policies that have had a little and negative impact on their economic and social well-being”, said a brief from his communication office.

The statement further stated that UDA promises an economic revolution anchored on the Constitution; taking resources down to the people that need them. It is this belief in an economic model that negates privilege and rewards effort to deliver broad-based shared prosperity that is attracting Kenyans to the UDA dream.

At the same time, Ruto exuded confidence that the partnership between UDA, ANC and Ford Kenya will guarantee them a decisive and irrefutable victory.

He said: “We want to win this election during the first round with over 70 per cent of the votes to ensure Raila has no reason to cause violence, start protests or swear himself in.”

Ruto called for free, fair, democratic elections devoid of threats, intimidation and blackmail.

“We believe that an election outcome is determined by the votes of the people,” he said.

Kalasinga said ANC and Ford Kenya made a conscious decision to join forces with Dr Ruto to move forward with the country’s development agenda.

Gachagua said Ruto has earned the respect and admiration of many leaders who now support him because of his realistic development agenda for the country.

He said: “We support Ruto because he has come with a practical plan that will lift Kenyans out of poverty.”

Gachagua asked President Kenyatta to reconsider the ban on scrap metal saying he was punishing many for the mistakes of a few.

Ichungwa asked Mt Kenya residents not to fall into ODM’s trap that has now been rebranded to Azimio to hoodwink them.

He said: “Do not be deceived, Azimio is ODM and ODM is Azimio.”
