Samboja exits Wiper, joins Jubilee
Taita Taveta governor Granton Samboja has on Friday, March 25, 2022, exited Kalonzo's Wiper Party and joined the ruling Jubilee party. Samboja, who was welcomed by the top brass of the ruling party, led a troop of Taita Taveta leaders to the Jubilee Headquarters.
The county head confirmed that he will be defending his gubernatorial seat on the ruling party's ticket. Samboja was accompanied by former Taita Taveta Woman Representative Joyce Lay, who has also confirmed that she will be seeking to reclaim her seat on a Jubilee party ticket.
Samboja also avowed support to the presidential bid of ODM leader Raila Odinga, who is the presidential candidate of the Azimio La Umoja movement that Jubilee is part of.
"I am elated today to join the Jubilee Party. I also take this opportunity to express gratitude to our party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta for uniting us under the umbrella of the Azimio La Umoja coalition. We have no doubt in our mind that the fifth president of Kenya will be Raila Odinga," he said.
