The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has called for peaceful demonstrations in Nairobi to counter Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition's mass action scheduled for Monday, March 20, 2023.

This was announced through a letter by UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala on Sunday, March 19.

Malala said the letter dated March 17, 2023, had been sent to the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome informing him of the planned picketing.

"We are expecting at least 20,000 people in tomorrow's picketing on Karen, Kitisuru, and Lower Kabete roads leading to the following homesteads; Raila Odinga, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and Eugene Wamalwa," Malala said.

He further asked the IG to provide police security.

"It is in this regard, we write to request security personnel in view of hustlers that will be demonstrating against divisive politics, destruction of property, and probable loss of lives," part of the statement reads.

On Friday, March 18, Malala, while speaking during the UDA delegates meeting held at Machakos University stated that all party members who adored their party leader, President William Ruto will head to Raila's residence on Monday.

Malala asked Raila's wife Ida Odinga to prepare enough tea and Ugali to serve the protesters set to march at her home.

"So, you Raila we have told you that since you have said you will be demonstrating to State House, I as the secretary general will also take our party members to demonstrate to your home in Karen as you go to disturb our president in State House,

"We are telling Ida Odinga, to prepare enough tea and ugali. If you think you have the people, you will see the government has more people than you," he stated.
