The country is broke and requires urgent intervention to cushion Kenyans from the crisis it has been plunged into by the outgoing leadership, Safina Presidential Aspirant Jimmy Wanjigi has claimed.

Speaking at a church service in Kutus town, Kirinyaga County the presidential hopeful claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and Raila Odinga were responsible for the prevailing economic crisis in the country.

He said that it is only Safina Party under his leadership that has a solution to the financial challenges the nation is facing.

He, therefore, urged Kenyans to support his presidential bid during the August 9 polls.

“The country is broke beyond your imagination. I do not recall a time when we had fuel shortages and it is happening at the moment because the government is broke. This administration has run the country to the ground," he said.

Wanjigi also challenged the three top leaders to quit the leadership of this country so that new blood can take control.

The businessman-cum-politician accused President Uhuru of trying to extend his tenure through the back door by pushing for Raila's presidency, a move he had asked Kenyans to reject.

"This is now the time for us as leaders to give back to the people. We should fight for our people to have a better life than the one they are currently living. We should yearn to leave a better world than how we found it," Wanjigi said.

Wanjigi further noted that the country was ready for a new dispensation that comprises new blood.

He at the same time condemned the culture of political intolerance that has been witnessed in the country of late. He condemned the act of violence that was recently meted out on ODM leader Raila Odinga in Uasin Gishu.

"What I saw happen to Raila Odinga was very sad. Our politics is more mature than that and I condemn it. If you don't want to listen to a person, just don't appear," he said.

The politician further appealed to youths not to allow politicians to hire them as goons to disrupt their competitors' political events.
